NASA EPSCoR Research Announcement: Submit Your Letters of Interest by Sept. 25

Letter of Interest Submission Deadline: 
Friday, September 25, 2015

Oklahoma NASA EPSCoR anticipates the release of a NASA EPSCoR Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN) for the Research Implementation Competition sometime in December 2015 with a 90-day turn around; we do not yet have a firm date. Preparation to respond to the CAN must begin now, as the proposal requires research collaboration among Oklahoma researchers, their counterparts at a NASA Center or Mission Directorate, and industry.

Researchers with previous or existing NASA Travel Grant and/or Research Initiation Grant funding are encouraged to submit a Letter of Interest to be considered for NASA Oklahoma EPSCoR sponsorship. However, all Letters of Interest will be considered.   A competitive process will be used to determine the final project for submission, with the State EPSCoR Advisory Committee making the determination, and the full proposal will likely be due to NASA on or around March 15, 2015.

Anticipated Amount of Award

$250,000 per year for three years; matching funds required.

Summer of 2016

  • No limit on the number of Letters of Interest per institution

NASA EPSCoR research priorities are defined by the Mission Directorates (Aeronautics Research, Human Exploration and Operations, Science and Space Technology). Each Mission Directorate covers a major area of the Agency’s research and technology development efforts;

Letter Content

The letter should contain:

  1. The title and description of the potential research including the NASA Mission Directorate and NASA scientist that has expressed interest in the project. Goals and objectives should be included in the letter which can be up to two full pages in length. Those interested in responding to this call are strongly encouraged to review the NASA EPSCoR Cooperative Agreement Notice from December 2014.  Special attention should be given to the review criteria listed on pages 32-35.   This solicitation can be found at:NASA EPSCoR Website and State EPSCoR Website.  
  2. A list of the primary researchers and their institutions and
  3. A two-page CV together with a list of current and pending support for the lead investigator, as well as any other anticipated key personnel.

Letters that do not conform to the specifications above will not be reviewed. 

Proposal Submission Instructions and Due Dates

  • The letter of interest must be e-mailed to the NASA EPSCoR Office at OKSG.EPSCoR@ou.edu
  • The letter of interest must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., September 25, 2015
