2022 S3OK Academy/OLAN Meeting - by Invitation

Monday, May 23, 2022 - 5:30pm - Tuesday, May 24, 2022 - 2:00pm

This closed meeting is in support of the S3OK project's Opinion Leader Advisory Network (OLAN).  Participation in the meeting is by invitation.

The OLAN is an integral component of the Socially Sustainable Solutions for Water, Carbon, and Infrastructure Resilience in Oklahoma research project. While the problems addressed by S3OK require science, successful solutions can only be found through collaboration among science communities and state leaders from many sectors, as well as buy-in from the affected public.

The OLAN is designed to help address these needs by bringing together Oklahoma leaders from government, industry, and the private sector throughout the project. OLAN members will stay abreast of S3OK science teams’ work and provide critical feedback and project direction via biannual surveys and annual Academies.

The S3OK 2022 Academy will feature updates from scientists and research teams, highlight case studies from OLAN members working in key Year 2 focus areas, discuss new science and technology advancements, and offer breakout sessions for a more in-depth discussion and opportunity to provide feedback to the research teams in all science focus areas.

The OLAN will fill at least four critical roles in the S3OK project:

  1. Provide insight into how Oklahomans understand S3OK’s wicked problems
  2. Provide feedback (and pushback) on the direction and value of the S3OK research investment
  3. Help integrate S3OK science, policy, and wisdom into a strategic direction for Oklahoma
  4. Advocate for the S3OK strategy upon completion of the project

The OLAN plays a crucial role in finding successful solutions to the wicked problems facing Oklahoma.
