2017 Authentic Research Experience for Teachers

Monday, June 5, 2017 - 8:00am - Thursday, June 8, 2017 - 5:00pm

Oklahoma elementary science teachers are invited to apply for this year’s Authentic Research Experience for Teachers (ARET) summer four-day workshop, where they will study environments and ecosystems in southeastern Oklahoma. During the four-day experience teachers will actively participate in scientific field research as well as work closely with science curriculum specialists to translate their research into classroom-ready learning experiences for their students. This workshop includes follow-up meetings with science curriculum specialists during the fall semester to assist in lesson reflection.

ARET will be held June 5-8, 2017, at the Kiamichi Forest Research Center near Idabel. Lodging, travel, breakfast and lunch, a stipend, and support for lesson materials will be provided for the selected teachers through the program, which is funded by a grant from OK NSF EPSCoR.
